ANNOUNCED: JD McPherson Supports

Announcing the supporting artists for the forthcoming JD McPherson Australian tour dates.

Blues super group Three Kings will be the main support for the Melbourne and Castlemaine shows, promising to take you on a dangerous joy ride through the back roads of juke joints and American music history, as they take to the stage with their own hard-hitting brand of greasy blues. Chris Russell (from Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk) will join them as the opening act performing his low down, badass, rockin’ Mississippi blues in a solo format at the Corner Hotel show only.

Indie folk trio Sons of the East will be the headline support for both the Sydney and Thirroul shows. Bringing their motley musical mix of banjo, organ, piano, guitar, stirring harmonies and the occasional didgeridoo, their rowdy and rambunctious live show is full of crowd-pleasing ‘tear-jerkers’ and ‘boot-stompers’!

Brisbane sees Shifting Sands as the main support. Comprised of members of seminal and established acts SixFtHick, Gentle Ben & his Sensitive Side, Keep On Dancin’s, Johnny & the Fembots and Family Jordan, Shifting Sands burn the mantle of Leonard Cohen, Lee Hazlewood, Nick Cave and Mark Lanegan as they wind their way knowingly through tunes littered with surf, country and noir pop. With a reputation as a captivating performer, singer/songwriter Josh Rennie-Hynes will open the show with his unique blend of Americana and country sounds.

The final date in Auckland features self-proclaimed 'hardcore troubadour' Will Wood, treading the line between punk rock and folk storytelling as the main support. Since the release of his debut LP Broken Man Will has kept up a constant busy touring schedule playing across New Zealand, Australia and Europe and is ready to release his second LP in 2016.

Considered one of American music’s newest shining stars, Oklahoma-born rock ‘n’ roller, JD McPHERSON is known for his classic sound rooted in rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly. Set to play five razor sharp shows in support of his latest highly acclaimed album, ‘Let The Good Times Roll’, JD McPHERSON is backed by his longtime four-piece band featuring Jimmy Sutton on upright bass, Jason Smay on drums, Ray Jacildo on keys and Doug Corcoran on saxophone, guitar and keys.

With an impressive touring ledger that has seen McPherson crisscross the US on headline tours and open for such acts as Robert Plant, Dave Matthews Band, Nick Lowe and Eric Church, tickets for these east coast dates are on sale now.
