2017's Biggest Laughs

Comedy festivals around this mighty fine country are bracing for the arrival of five highly acclaimed jokers, presented by Live Nation: JASON BYRNE, NAZEEM HUSSAIN, JOEL CREASEY, DES BISHOP and URZILA CARLSON. While Australia's funniest lady JULIA MORRIS hits the road once more with a brand new show in May.

JASON BYRNE - Propped Up
Jason Byrne is Propped Up is a brand new show from the very experienced, very funny, very highly acclaimed, very absolutely trouser wetting, very can’t watch much more as I think I’m going to die comedian. Jason brings back his warmth and generous stagecraft with even more props and silly humour. On his last Australian tour he re-introduced his prop comedy mixed with his stand up and audience participation. THEY LOVED IT. They wanted more silly props… More giant ducks, more rubber hands, owls, big wooden pegs and amazing magic stunts. Bring your mates and family for a guaranteed laugh. You might even get a glimpse of a mouse with a moustache.

Nazeem Hussain has a love/not-so-love relationship with Australia that is fraught with mistrust. And given the state of the world, the feeling’s mutual. Public Frenemy is the latest show to come from one of the most in demand TV and radio personalities in Australia. Hussain has now made his American TV debut as an official correspondent for the new Netflix program Bill Nye Saves the World. After selling out tours around the world in 2015 and 2016 Hussain capped off last year at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a sell out debut solo show.

Not married and without kids, Des thoroughly enjoys being the backseat parent amongst his friends. This show sees Des tackle the issues confronting him these days: modern day parenting, why he’s glad he’s not a teenager nowadays, erectile dysfunction, would you kill Hitler as a baby and why Des was inspired by his niece to end period shaming. It’s straight stand-up at its best.

URZILA CARLSON – Unacceptable
When did it became unacceptable to like meat and impossible to process gluten? And why isn’t it okay to call people out when they’re being assholes? You don’t need to like the latest hipster indie banjo band just because everyone’s saying you do. It’s okay to think they’re shit. You’re not alone.
