Sir Dave Dobbyn is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated and enduring singer-songwriters, with a remarkable career spanning five decades. First finding fame in the late 1970s with Th’ Dudes before fronting DD Smash, Dobbyn went on to build an extraordinary solo career, creating some of New Zealand’s most beloved songs, including “Slice of Heaven”, “Loyal”, “Beside You”, “Be Mine Tonight”, “Welcome Home”, “Whaling” and “Kingdom Come”. Known for his unforgettable melodies, heartfelt songwriting and powerful live performances, his music has become the soundtrack to generations across New Zealand and Australia. With nine studio albums, multiple awards and a knighthood in 2021 for his services to music, Sir Dave remains one of Aotearoa’s most treasured musical voices. In February 2027, he returns to Australia for 50 Years of Sir Dave Dobbyn, a special one-night-only performance at Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, celebrating five decades of iconic songs and his first Australian headline show in nearly a decade.
